Professional
Overview

In our strategic approach to understanding the application users' needs, tasks were meticulously allocated among team members, each focusing on specific facets of the study processes through the principles of design thinking. This method enabled a robust exploration of the user experience, ensuring both depth and breadth in our insights. As a primary contributor I employed design thinking principles to conduct comprehensive research and provide visual interpretations of all concepts and processes involved, thereby enhancing the project's clarity and fostering innovative solutions.

User Research Insights

We conducted 58 user surveys, 5 user interviews, online research to develop our understanding of how the public interacts with the user with thyroid disorder, and found 14 insights from the survey and interviews.

80%

Women over 45 are at significant risk of thyroid  disorder.

1/8

Women develop a thyroid disorder during her lifetime.

60%

Women with thyroid gland are unaware of their diagnosis.

75%

Rely on traditional methods like memory and paper diaries for health record-keeping.

Our findings also illuminated the profound impact of thyroid disorders on patient's well-being:

79%

Patients experience severe incapacitation, feelings of despair, a sense of failure, diminished self-esteem, and heightened stress due to unsuccessful doctor visits.

78%

patients report post-treatment symptoms, sharply contrasting the 20% estimated by physicians, revealing a gap in perceived efficacy.

These insights highlight the urgent need for innovative solutions to address the informational and emotional challenges faced by individuals with thyroid disorders.

Information Architecture

Testing & Ideation:

Our user testing, conducted in two phases with diverse participants, first evaluated user interaction with the product, identifying initial usability issues. The second phase focused on refining specific features like homepage design, symptom tracking, and lifestyle recommendations, based on detailed user feedback. This iterative approach significantly enhanced our application, making it more intuitive and tailored to user needs.

User Interface Screens

On boarding

Our onboarding process streamlines user engagement by offering a concise health survey that zeroes in on disorders and symptoms to collect essential health data. This data aids in assessing risks, tracking health issues, and providing customized advice and workouts. Additionally, the "continue as a guest" feature on the account setup screen allows users to explore the app's interface without committing to an account, fostering exploration and informed decision-making.

Homepage

Our app's homepage streamlines health tracking with a user-friendly interface, offering medication tracking, customized recipes, workouts, and more. Innovative features like seed icons for symptom tracking that bloom into flowers, with petal colors reflecting wellness levels, enhance user experience. This approach, developed from user feedback, uses positive imagery to avoid triggering language, making health monitoring engaging and intuitive.

Stress free symptom tracking

The symptom tracking feature is designed to accurately capture and identify symptoms, fostering good health habits with its visually appealing interface for a simple and stress-free recording experience. It also enriches the user's health journey by offering tips and informative articles. This approach is crucial because it not only facilitates the early detection and management of health conditions but also empowers users with knowledge and strategies to improve their overall wellness, addressing the need for a comprehensive health monitoring tool that is both engaging and educational.

Medication tracker and reminder

This medication and supplement feature offers an intuitive interface and useful functionalities to assist users in maintaining their schedule, reminding them to take their medications and supplements.

Doctor Appointments

The application simplifies appointment scheduling for clinicians and nutritionists, covering both future sessions and past consultations. This feature enhances healthcare efficiency and ensures timely follow-ups, aiming to improve patient care and health outcomes through better coordination and accessibility.

Trends - lifestyle/symptom/labs

The health report provides three types of reports: symptoms, lifestyle, and labs, each offering detailed information. The lifestyle report showcases weekly workout hours, including yoga and steps taken, along with progress in workouts and sleep, derived from wearable data worn by the user. The symptom report presents different symptoms experienced weekly, as per the user's profile, with each symptom featuring weekly and monthly data visualization and detailed information. Additionally, the lab's report displays graphs and results in an easily understandable format.

Workouts

The exercise and medication features in the app encourage users to maintain daily streaks, fostering motivation for consistent workout routines, including yoga, and medication adherence. These options are designed with specific goals like chronic pain relief, lower back pain management, and stress reduction in mind. The underlying purpose is to instill a habit of regular physical activity and medication compliance, ultimately aiming to improve users’ overall health, manage symptoms effectively, and enhance their quality of life through tailored, accessible wellness strategies.

Community

The community feature of our app brings a deeply emotional and supportive dimension to users with thyroid conditions, creating a space where they can connect with others who truly understand their journey. Through a variety of events, including workshops, gatherings, and social activities available both online and offline, it nurtures a sense of belonging and solidarity. The inclusion of an FAQs section, where users can ask questions and receive guidance from medical professionals, adds a layer of trust and reassurance. This initiative is more than just a feature; it's a lifeline that empowers individuals to share experiences, seek advice, and find comfort among peers, all while fostering a larger perspective on health and wellness within a supportive and understanding community.

Big Learnings from a Groundbreaking Journey

Collaboration and User-Centric Design

Gained invaluable hands-on experience by working closely with a visionary CEO and product manager, leading to a deep dive into application development. Despite challenges in team communication and UI design complexities, relentless iteration and user feedback integration sharpened my skills, highlighting the criticality of user-centric approaches.

Embracing User Diversity

Realized the profound impact of understanding and accommodating the unique needs of a diverse user base. This experience underscored the essence of inclusivity in design and the power of genuinely listening to user experiences, enriching my perspective on creating solutions that truly resonate.

Navigating Project Shifts

Faced with a project pivot beyond my expertise, I stepped away, reaffirming my commitment to specializing in health-related applications. This decision, though tough, has only fueled my passion for contributing to projects that offer tangible benefits to individuals managing health conditions, especially those with thyroid issues.

The Path Forward

Motivated by the project's potential impact on the thyroid community, my journey continues with a resolve to pursue similar endeavors. The goal: to innovate health monitoring applications that empower users, transforming challenges into opportunities for better health and well-being.
